 Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, Hindi: [s@l’ma:n:n]; 27/12/65, is an Indian actor, producer, and TV personality. He specializes in Hindi films. Khan, who has a film career that spans over 30 years, has won numerous awards including two National Film Awards as an actor and two Filmfare Awards as an actor. Forbes also included Khan in their 2015 Top-Paid 100 Celebrity Entertainmentists list. Khan tied Amitabh Bachchan for No. Khan is the host of Bigg Boss, a reality TV show that he hosted since 2010.[10]

Khan is the eldest son and screenwriter Salim Khan. He began his acting career in 1988 with a supporting role on Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), then he was cast in Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). Khan continued in Bollywood in the 1990s with roles in several productions, including the romantic drama.

In addition to his acting career, Khan is a television presenter and promotes humanitarian causes through his charity, Being Human Foundation.[11] Khan's off-screen life is marred by controversy and legal troubles. In 2015 he was convicted of culpable homicide for a negligent driving case in which he ran over five people with his car, killing one, but his conviction was set aside on appeal.[12][13][14][15] On 5 April 2018, Khan was convicted in a blackbuck poaching case and sentenced to five years imprisonment.[16][17] He is currently out on bail while an appeal is being heard.[18]

Salman Khan has starred in ten of the highest grossers of the year, starting from 1947 to 2020, which is highest for any actor in history of Hindi cinema.[19]
